what the research says, according to Cox Business
Hi there Reader, It's no secret Millennials and Gen Z know a thing or two about tech, but have you ever wondered what they really think about it... ...at work? My friends at Cox Business (who sponsored this email) wanted to find out...and what they found is, well, interesting.
I'll give you the TLDR when it comes to Gen Z, Millennials, and Tech in the workplace. ⬇️ FIRST - we all know the younger generations (hiii) are decently tech savvy. But according to the Cox Business 2025 Workplace Technology Survey This group of employees doesn't actually have The Fix? - ASK YOUNGER COLLEAGUES FOR THEIR INPUT to help make decisions on what tech to implement NEXT - Younger employees are still skeptical of AI, although cautiously optimistic 👀 60% of this group feels AI is a positive tool to use at work, but there are some concerns. Gen Z has concerns about the potential for AI to replace them altogether in the workforce, and Millennials still worry about their personal data. It's still being used, though! Especially in areas like brainstorming, summarizing, and analyzing data. ...What I found most interesting is 50% of the group expressed concern about HOW MUCH they're using AI, and about 25% of them don't even know if their company has a policy around it. 🤔 The Fix? - BEING TRANSPARENT with your employees about AI regulations and internal policy. FINALLY - Sometimes tech at work still doesn't...work and "shadow IT" presents some challenges 💻 Have you ever been at the office and the internet (yeah, same) Shadow IT is essentially when your tech at work stops working, requiring you to use a personal device or even your own hotspot for internet, and this group reported it's still a pretty frequent frustration at work. 60% of Gen Z and Millennials WILL use their personal 🤯 devices to stop the interruption of work...and 50% of them say theirs is actually faster...😅 The Challenge? - IT Teams have less awareness of tech issues and less ability to remedy them when personal devices are used As a Millennial myself, I personally have a love-hate relationship with tech. I love how useful it can be, and I also get easily frustrated with it at the same time. If you're feeling in the messy middle with tech, too, the Cox Business 2025 Workplace Technology Survey is a great tool to spark some of these conversations in your own workplace. What's your take on Tech in the workplace? Do you share some of these sentiments? Be well, |
